Illuminating the Night
When the sun sets, a poorly lit yard becomes a void. With strategic lighting design, however, darkness becomes a canvas. Proper illumination extends the hours you can enjoy your exterior spaces and entirely changes the atmosphere of your home.
"Light should guide the eye, not blind it. The goal is to see the effect, never the source."
Layering Your Light
Just like interior lighting, outdoor illumination requires layers. We focus on three distinct types:
- Ambient: Soft, generalized light for gathering areas, often achieved through subtle wall washes or overhead string lights.
- Task: Brighter, focused light necessary for safety on stairs and pathways, or for utility around an outdoor kitchen.
- Accent: Dramatic uplighting on mature trees or grazing light across textured stone walls to create depth and visual intrigue.
Warm temperature LEDs (2700K) provide a welcoming, romantic glow without harsh glare.
